AUTUMNAL TONES
13 October 2018
This time of year has an affect on me like no other - we start getting cosy and look forward to the next few months of festivities, from Halloween, Fireworks Night and then, of course, Christmas. The coats get unpacked from storage and boots replace any other types of footwear that let in the slightest bit of cold. Socks are back on the menu, after months of sandal-wearing and scarfs make sure we're covered from head to toe (pulled my Zara blanket scarf out of storage two days ago). Weekends are about blankets, hot drinks, movie marathons and the occasional crunchy-leafed stroll.
With all this in mind, I thought I'd write a post (after a minor hiatus - whoops) about my favourite things that autumn brings. The colours this time of year make me giddy with joy - rusty oranges, camel and tan, muted greys and pops of leafy green - festive and warm, the perfect blend.
I love getting darker tones on the nails this time of year, just a like a plum-toned lipstick screams autumn, so does a deep burgundy on the tips of your fingers. My favourite nail varnish for this time of year is Ciate 'Raise the Barre.' Not only is it the perfect autumnal tone but also strengthens the nail and doesn't chip easily.
A big ol' blanket scarf never goes out of style, this beauty is about three/four years old and from Zara - their scarves are always a must have this time of year. They're amazing quality really do last. I also have a camel coloured wrap that acts like an wearable quilt. Win, win.
Skirts and tights are back. My favourite autumnal combo. A flattering, mini/midi skirt, paired with a pair of thick black tights and over the knee boots is the perfect smart/casual attire for work or play. Oversized, fuzzy, teddy-bear-esque jumper: optional.
All that's left to do is light your favourite candle (Yankee Candle Winter Wonder is my go-to, at the moment) grab a hot chocolate, a good book and start dreaming of the months to follow.
