As the new year is now in full swing, the Christmas decorations came down in what feels like forever ago and the whole room is looking rather bare and forlorn, I have decided to invest in some new interior pieces, namely flowers (artificial or otherwise) and candles.
I adore sweet smells, the type that most people would find sickening and bring on a severe migraine, I can't get enough of.
The two I have bought in the post-Christmas sale are Snowflake Cookie and Strawberry Buttercream - even the names might make some peoples stomachs turn, but these offerings from Yankee Candle have become firm favourites of mine.
A powder pink and white theme runs throughout my boudoir and my aim for a Parisian châteaux with a feminine flare is further complimented by the addition of flowers and plants.
As previously featured in my blog post I purchased some gorgeous artificial peonies from Etsy, the flowers are standing proudly in a glass cube vase from Hobbycraft, placed on top of a selection of my favourite fashion-based coffee table books.
To create a floral element, I have three beautiful Rosie for Autograph candles that give a lovely ambience to the area. They counteract the sweetness with a scent of freshly cut roses. Beautiful.
To add a slight edge I have also added a cactus, surrounded with a copper mesh holder. This is in stark contrast to the femininity of the room, these pieces add a Scandinavian touch, along with a beautifully simplistic notepad from The White Company - FYI, they're the best.
My other cactus is an old purchase and stands proudly in, yet again, a White Company mini green house.
Perfectly paired with crisp white sheets and two Catherine Lansfield scatter cushions, my New Years room overhaul has a minimalistic feel with a heart of Parisian chic.
